Up All Night Tour

The Up All Night Tour is One Direction's first headlining tour. It was announced on September 27, 2011. Originally only touring in in the UK and Ireland, the tour was later extended to include Australia, New Zealand, and North America.

Following The X Factor, One Direction signed a record contract with Sony Music subsidiary Syco Records. They released their first studio album, Up All Night which became a big hit around the world and came out first. In November 2012, One Direction released their newest album Take Me Home.

Niall Horan

Niall James Horan -  born 13 September 1993 (age 19), is from Mullingar, County Westmeath, Ireland. Born to mother Maura Gallagher and father Bobby Horan, he has an older brother named Greg. Their parents divorced when he was five. He and his brother lived between each of their homes for a few years before eventually deciding to live with their father in Mullingar. Horan was a pupil at Coláiste Mhuire, a boys' Christian Brothers school. He was in the school choir, performing seasonally around Christmas.

In 2010, at sixteen years old, Niall auditioned for the seventh series of The X Factor UK in Dublin. He sang "So Sick", and received mixed comments from the judges. Louis Walsh was in his favor, but Cheryl Cole and guest judge Katy Perry, felt he needed some time to grow. Simon voted to let him through, Cheryl said no, and Louis quickly added in his yes, and left Niall's fate up to Katy. She decided to vote yes, and Niall was put through to bootcamp.

At bootcamp, Niall sang "Champagne Supernova", but failed to qualify for the "Boys" category. After a suggestion from guest judge Nicole Scherzinger, Niall was put into a group with four other boys, who also failed to move on in the competition, but since they were too good to let go the judges decided to agree with Nicole. Niall, along with Harry Styles, Liam Payne, Louis Tomlinson, and Zayn Malik formed One Direction. Harry Styles came up with the group name. They began competing every week until the finals where they received 3rd place, closely behind Rebecca Ferguson, who came 2nd and Matt Cardle who won the competition.

Harry Styles

Harry Edward Styles - born 1 February 1994 (age 19), is from the village of Holmes Chapel, Cheshire,England. He is a former pupil at Holmes Chapel Comprehensive School, a state comprehensive school.Born to mother Anne Cox and father Des Styles,he has an older sister, Gemma.He was seven when their parents divorced, his mother subsequently getting remarried.Following the divorce, Styles, his older sister and mother moved further out into the Cheshire countryside.At the age of twelve he moved back to Holmes Chapel.

Harry was the lead singer for the band White Eskimo with band members Hayd Morris (lead guitarist), Nick Clough (bass guitarist), and Will Sweeny (drummer). They came together to compete in a Battle of the Bands. The band won the competition, and it helped Harry realize that he loved performing in front of people.

In 2010, when he was sixteen years old, Harry auditioned for the seventh season of The X Factor. Harry sang "Isn't She Lovely" and received positive comments from Simon Cowell and Nicole Scherzinger, while Louis Walsh had doubts on whether he was ready to progress in the competition. At bootcamp, Harry sang "Stop Crying Your Heart Out" before being rejected and put into One Direction.

Zayn Malik

Zain Javadd "Zayn" Malik - born 12 January 1993 (age 20), is from Bradford, West Yorkshire, England.Born to British Pakistani father Yaser and an English Irish mother, Tricia Malik, he has one older sister, Doniya, and two younger sisters, Waliyha and Safaa. He grew up in East Bowling,was a pupil at Lower Fields Primary School, and went to Tong High School, a state comprehensive school. Malik did not fit in at his first two schools due to his mixed heritage, and after moving schools at the age of twelve, Malik states he started taking pride in his appearance.

He sang "Let Me Love You" by Mario. All three judges - Simon, Louis, and Nicole  gave him a 'yes'. His audition was initially not broadcast, but was later shown on The Xtra Factor. Zayn was noted for becoming nervous in bootcamp. When he was told he had to dance, he decided toremain backstage, effectively running the risk of elimination. When Simon noticed Zayn missing from the dance routine, he went backstage to convince him to return. Later on, Zayn said it was aof confidence that caused him to run away.

Louis Tomlinson

Louis Tomlinson - born on 24 December 1991 (age 21), is from Doncaster, South Yorkshire, England. His parents split up when Louis was young. When his mother remarried, Louis took on his stepdad Mark Tomlinson's name. He has four younger half-sisters by his mom; Charlotte, Félicité, and twins Daisy and Phoebe. He has one younger half-sister by his father, Georgia. Mark and Jay divorced in 2011.
He was a sixth form student at Hall Cross School, a state comprehensive school and previously a pupil at The Hayfield School. While he was a student at Hall Cross, Louis starred in several musical productions such as Grease.

Louis auditioned for The X Factor with "Hey There Delilah" by Plain White T's. He received three votes out of the three judges present, and was sent to Bootcamp. At Bootcamp, he sang Bob Dylan's "Make You Feel My Love" before being rejected, and put into One Direction.

Liam Payne

Liam James Payne - born 29 August 1993 (age 19), is from Wolverhampton, West Midlands, England. Born three weeks early to mother Karen and father Geoff,he has two older sisters, Ruth and Nicola. Until the age of four, Payne had regular tests done in hospital as doctors noticed one of his kidneys was scarred and dysfunctional. To help cope with the pain, he had 32 injections in his arm in the morning and evening as a child. As a student, Payne was heavily involved in sports. Payne was bullied in secondary school and took up boxing lessons at the age of twelve. He was a music technology student at City of Wolverhampton College.

From the age of six, Liam had already started showing signs of singing talent. He would sing for his relatives or pub crowds on karaoke. However, he had his heart set on becoming an Olympic runner, and was a member of the Wolverhampton and Bilston Athletics Club. He would wake up at 5am every day to run five miles before school. His running dream ended at 14 years old when he narrowly missed out on a spot in the England schools team. At that point, he decided to completely focus on his singing, although he still loved his football club, West Bromwich Albion.
 
Payne first auditioned in 2008 to The X Factor's fifth series when he was fourteen. He made it to the judges' houses, but Cowell thought he was not ready for the competition and asked him to come back in two years. In 2010, Liam returned and auditioned with "Cry Me a River". He received a standing ovation from the audience and Simon. He got a yes from all four judges present at the audition.
